More Smiley Face Cookies!

My grand kids are loving me making cookies because they know that grandma will use the left over dough to make cookies for them! Talk about spoiled!!

When I do a platter of cookies, I make them in increments of six. A dozen, eighteen, two dozen, and so on. So depending on the size of the cookie cutter used, I will most likely have extra dough. I use that extra dough to make Smile Face Cookies and keep my grand kids happy.

Okay, my kids and hubby too!!

Black & Red Wedding Cake

I made this cake for Jordan, a neighbor of ours for 14 years. She and my daughter, Ruth, are good friends.

There's actually a story behind this cake. The night I was to make it, my 12 year old nephew decided to try an Evel Knievel stunt and ended up in ICU with a ruptured spleen and a concussion! So I spent the time I meant to be working on this cake in the hospital waiting room!! I finally got home and started working on it at about one-thirty in the morning. I had to have it delivered at nine the next morning.

Fortunately, I had the frosting and fillings made, so all I had to do was stack and frost it. But I was extremely tired and I kept making stupid mistakes, so I had to quit and finish when I delivered it. Talk about stressful!! Wedding cakes tend to be stressful for me in the best of circumstances, but this was a little over the top!

But, all's well that ends well, as the saying goes. Jordan was happy with her cake (although I don't feel it was my best work). I ran off and forgot my camera, so my husband took this pic with his I-phone. And my nephew is pretty much out of the woods, thank God!

Anyway, congrats, Jordan and Austin!

Baby Rattle Decorated Cookies

I made these baby rattle cookies to take to the hospital when my daughter had her baby last week.

I made regular and chocolate flavored.

My daughter-in-law prefers her cookies without the glaze, so I made a few like this especially for her.

Congratulations, Ben & Naomi, on the safe arrival of baby Sydney Rose!!

Zebra Birthday Cake

I made this zebra cake for Emily, my granddaughter's, third birthday.
I used buttercream frosting with fondant addons. The flowers on top are silk.

Don't you love that cake board? It's from Hobby Lobby, but wasn't meant to be used for this! I think it was meant to hang on a wall.

I made decorated cookies as well. Regular and chocolate. I apologize for the quality of the pics!!

Hope you had a happy birthday, Emily!! I can't believe you're already three!

Sydney Rose

I'm currently staying with my oldest daughter and her family while she recuperates from the birth or her fourth daughter, Sydney Rose! Sydney arrived on June 28th.

We've been doing pretty good, until last night, that is!! I think Mommy ate something that didn't agree with baby, so baby kept Grandma up most of the night!

Here's Sydney when she was a day old and still in the hospital.

We're so glad you're here, Sydney!!
