Juliet Had A Birthday!

Jules turned one last month!  Hard to believe!!

Don't you love her party hat?  A friend makes these for birthday parties!

She enjoyed her cake and party immensely!!

Mommy wanted a simple cake and this is what she came up with.

Happy Birthday, Jules!!

Patriotic Memorial Day Cookies

How cute are these!!!

And they were soooo much fun and soooo easy to do!!

Stars and Stripes!  Well, chevron stripes, but close enough!

I used standard stencils and Wilton color mist.  I literally decorated around eighty cookies in minutes!  And if you look close, they're not perfect, which I think gives them a shabby chic look!

I love them and plan on doing more for the Fourth of July!

Mustache Cakes

My oldest son and oldest granddaughter share a birthday, so we usually have a joint party.  This year Natalie wanted a mustache on her cake.  So instead of having one girly cake, I did this!

This way we were able to have a chocolate cake and the Red Velvet cake Natalie wanted.  I frosted each cake in buttercream, then added a foam mustache to each.  Much easier than working with fondant!

Happy Birthday, Natalie!  Can't believe you're eleven!

Oh, and Happy Birthday, Bobby!!  Can't believe you're 34!!

New Grandson!!

Meet Jackson Lee!!  He is our second grandson out of eleven grandchildren!!  So we're really excited to get another boy!

Big sis Kami really, really, REALLY wanted a sister.  But she really does love him, despite the look she's giving him in this picture!

Look at that lip!  Isn't he a little doll baby?

Congrats, Ruth & Rob!

Veggie Tales Birthday Cake

My two year old granddaughter loves Veggie Tales, especially Bob.  So there really wasn't any other choice for her birthday cake!

I've used this technique a couple of times now, but I always seem to have the lines.

Somehow, I'm not getting the buttercream in there tight enough.  From a distance it looks great but if you get up close, this is what you see.

But January didn't seem to notice.  Hope you had a wonderful birthday!!

Jake and the Neverland Pirates Birthday Party

My four year old grandson is into Jake and the Neverland Pirates in a big way!!  So his mom went all out for his party.

She found most of these ideas on Pinterest.  The sail is turned the wrong wa

I baked and frosted the cake, then added this sugar sheet that she purchased on eBay.

Hope you had a great birthday, Peyton!

Christmas Cookies 2013

So I'm way behind with my posting.  Just now getting my Christmas cookies on here.  It's not all my fault, though.  My computer is going wacky!  Pictures wouldn't up load.

Turns out it wasn't my computer at all; it's Internet Explorer!  Switched to Chrome and it's working fine now.

Candy Corn Cake

This cake was for my next to oldest granddaughter who had a birthday in October.  Her only request was a candy cake.  Here is what I came up with.

I made my homemade dark chocolate cake, frosted it with a fudge frosting, then used Twix' for the sides.  I love those things!!  You will see a lot of this kind of cake on the Internet, using various kinds of candy.  A good idea for a quick cake.

I think she was pleased!  Hope you had a Happy Birthday, Nicole!!

Another Curious George Birthday Cake

I have two three year old granddaughters, and they both had to have Curious George cakes for their birthday parties this year!  I posted about the first here.

This one was for Kami, who is a little more than three months younger than Sydney.

Kami's mommy was a little more complicated than her big sis.  I also had to make coordinating cake pops and decorated cookies!

But Kami was one happy little girl, so it was all worth it!

Baby Juliet's Ivory Rosette Shower Cake

This cake was for my youngest granddaughter's baby shower.

We had a vintage theme going on with the decorations and I thought this look would fit.

I love how it turned out and how easy it was to decorate!  Just have to love those roses!!

I used my favorite dark chocolate cake recipe and buttercream frosting using real butter and whipping cream.
