Dream Closet

I don't have a coat closet. We tore it out when we remodeled our home before we moved in to make the floor plan more open.

I do have a very messy master bedroom closet that I don't have the time or the inclination to tackle today! Ditto to the craft closet, the only other closet that needs to be organized. So I'm going to take the day off from the organizing today.

Instead, I'll show you pics of a really luxurious cedar closet my husband designed and built for a customer and good friend of ours!

It was originally her guest bedroom which was located next to the master bedroom. It was never used, so she decided to turn it into a walk-in closet.

Everything is made of cedar. Here are two drawer stacks he made to fit under the existing windows:

This pic shows the original closet that was in the room. He removed the doors and put a rod across the very top of the closet, then shelves all the say down to within a foot of the floor. I didn't get a picture of it, but inside the closet on the left side, he made a space for her stand-up clothes steamer.

These shelves are for her belts and such.

Here you can see the shelf at the top of the room. It goes all the way around the room, even above the windows and doors.

The closet that was in the master bedroom became her shoe closet. My husband made these shoe cubbies out of cedar as well.

There is a rod at the top of this closet as well, for additional hanging space.

And he created this rod for her hair clips. It's located in the master bedroom shoe closet.

I didn't get a picture of it, but there are additional shoe cubbies at each end of the closet.

How would you like to have a closet like that? Could you fill it up the way she has? I couldn't even come close!

Happy organizing, everyone!

  2. Wow - that is something all right. Your husband did very nice work but I can't say I'd want to deal with all that clothing!

  4. Seeing all that stuff made me feel better about all my stuff. I could probably fill that closet up if I would ever finish doing all of my laundry! LOL! Beautiful wood work and carpentry by your DH, thanks for sharing.
